Job Summary:

The Project Manager will be responsible for the planning, organizing and coordination of construction projects from inception to completion - as well as the physical and human resources involved in building and construction.

Requirements:

  • BSc or BTech in Building
  • A minimum of 10 years' applicable experience
  • Computer literate (familiar with MS Project, Excel & Word)
  • Driver's license and own transport is a necessity
  • Excellent health
  • No criminal record
  • Knowledge of the build environment with special focus on hospitality sector
  • Willing to travel outside of South Africa to projects
  • Preferred candidates should be registered with SACPCMP
  • Must have strong leadership qualities and the ability to manage an in house construction management team

Core Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for the completion of a construction project, through stages 1 to 6
  • Implement efficient building practices from design commencement to the completion of the project.
  • Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes as well as other relevant regulations.
  • Be responsible for the appointment and negotiation of contractor contracts as well as approving work completed by contractors
  • Working closely with the Project QS in developing a budget and cash flow.
  • Developing a timeline for the completion of the project.
  • Liaison between the construction team, architects, designers and the owners/clients to facilitate communication, decision-making and problem solving
  • Planning for each phase prior to its start and supervising the progress of each stage of the construction phase.
  • Compile and issue accurate project reporting to the professional team and the client.
  • Working closely with the project QS to prepare and submit budget estimates, progress and cost reports.
  • Identify risks and formulate plans to mitigate delays arising from the project and contractual project operations.
  • Develop and implement quality control programmes.
  • Be actively involved in the design process to monitor costs and value engineer alternative proposals.
  • Be able to draw up and monitor pre-construction, pre-tender and construction programmes.
  • Manage an in-house construction management team
