Requirements:

• BSc or BTech in Quantity Surveying
• A minimum of 10 years' applicable experience
• Registration as a professional Quantity Surveyor with SACQSP
• Computer literate (familiar with MS Project, Excel & Word)
• Driver's license and own transport is a necessity
• Excellent health
• No criminal record
• Knowledge of the build environment with experience in the hospitality sector
• Willing to travel outside of South Africa to projects
• Knowledge of Construction Contracts, JBCC, FIDIC and GCC
• Knowledge of market related rates relating to the building industry

Other duties will include:

• Developing a budget and cash flow for the completion of the project.
• The mediation and resolution of any issues arising from subcontractor partnerships.
• Liaison between the construction team, architects, designers and the owners/clients to facilitate communication, decision making and problem solving relating to budget and cost control.
• Planning for each phase prior to its start, supervising the financial progress of each phase of the construction.
• Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress and cost reports on a frequent basis.
• Identify financial risks and appropriately mitigate delays arising from the project and contractual project operations.
• Be actively involved in the design process to monitor costs and value engineer alternative proposals.
• Be able to draw up pre-construction and pre-tender contractual documentation.
• Measurement of drawings of existing structures to compile Bills of Quantities for refurbishment and new build projects.
• Pricing of Bills of Quantities and compiling rates.
• Assistance in the preparation of contractual correspondence to the client and subcontractors.
• Coordination and quantification of all changes (i.e Modifications, design changes, Site instructions etc).
• Preparation of tender documentation for competitive tendering.
